Flemingsburg may be a small town, but once a year in September, they have a roaring good time and draw record crowds at their Swing On Main Street Festival.

Saturday Afternoon Drive: Vanceburg
The hustle and bustle that once was Vanceburg is not the same as it used to be. The days of the big department stores and the shoe and bow factory have long since closed their doors. Many of the industries that once occupied this river town are gone. Today, we are left with history.

1st Annual Buffalo Trace Balloon Race
In 1783 a sheep, a duck, and a rooster became the first passengers in a hot air balloon. This August, you can follow in the path of these aviation pioneers as the Bluegrass Satellite and Security Buffalo Trace Balloon Race comes to Maysville, Kentucky.

Al's Giovani's Pizza
It's not very hard to miss Al Roe. He can be found making his pizza sauce in his restaurant or sitting on the porch next door, waving at those passing by. Many people know him as Uncle Al.

EAT Gallery
It can be called one of Maysville's newest and oldest Gems. Simon and Laurie Watt would both agree. Moving to Maysville over a decade ago, leaving the city life of Los Angeles, the Watt's found their new home on the river in Maysville. Being gem dealers by trade, they spend a large portion of their time travelling the world, buying and selling gems. When offered the idea of buying a building in downtown Maysville they decided to try and lead a re-birth in retail in downtown. Naturally they turned to the business they know so well from the jewelry business and where they could showcase other fine natural art which they have come across in their worldly travels. They found the right spot, and last September the EAT Gallery (Exquisite Art Treasures) opened.

Riverboats and Trains
Turning on the computer and getting back into the swing of things, as I prepared to proof and edit, I thought back lovingly of the good times I had growing up in Lewis County. I grew up in the western part of the county in a small town called Tollesboro.

Art at Doodles
Flemingsburg is a town that long-time residents remember as being "so busy on Saturday night, you couldn't barely walk down the sidewalks without bumpin' in to somebody."

Tecumseh
I had been trying to see the Tecumseh Story held at the Sugarloaf Mountain Amphitheatre in Chilicothe for about ten years. Even my fully grown sons have seen the show. Years ago, when my boys were visiting Portsmouth, their grandparents took them to see Tecumseh

White Gallery
Picasso, and Rembrandt come to mind. When people in Maysville think of artists, they think of Steve White. White has stayed close to home and has become an award winning and not only nationally but internationally recognized American Artist.
